HOUND

You were woven from steel, and iron, and mesh
Born to seek after human flesh
Brought to life by a flashing spark
That danced through your veins till it found its mark
And powered up your glowing eyes
Your senses tuned to seek their prize
And the gears ground, and the pistons pumped
And your blackened heart began... to thump

And your metal muscles strained, at the first,
And then you rose, and you felt the thirst
That can only be quenched by a human’s pain
And you growled, and you licked your poisoned fang
Could it be that the spirits of old
Might burn within your skin so cold?
What do you know of the ancient things
Whose mouths could taste what their skills might bring

No, what you know is a concrete floor
And the bars that hold you ever more
And the creatures that laugh, and smell like prey...
As you dream of freedom, and lust for the for the day
When you can leap, and tear their flesh!
And bring upon them mortal death
And silence the tongues that lashed you down
Shattered the calm you sought and found

You beast of metal, beast of grief!
You cannot die and you cannot sleep,
But the rhythmic sound of your clockwork heart...
Can usher you back, into the dark.
